I’ve used BlaBlaCar a few times around the UK, and compared to taking the train, it can definitely be cheaper and sometimes more convenient. That said, my experiences have been a bit up and down. One driver was lovely, easy to chat to, and showed up right on time, but another cancelled late, which left me rushing to sort out a backup. The prices usually feel fair, but the app itself isn’t as smooth as others I’ve used. I’d probably use it again if train tickets were ridiculously expensive, but for anything important, I’d rather go with something more reliable

"Refund took way too long"
I had a ride cancelled , and getting my money back took way longer than it should have . Support mostly sent me generic replies , and the dispute process felt all over the place . It did get sorted in the end , but it left a bad impression

My account got locked by moderation and I have no idea what triggered it. One minute I was using it like normal, next thing I know I can’t get back in, and there’s no clear explanation or anything helpful telling me what to do next. It’s just frustrating because I’d at least like to know what happened or how to fix it.

I booked this thinking it would be close enough to where I needed to be, but it ended up being way too far. It made getting around a hassle and threw off the plans I had for the day. Frustrating, honestly.

I couldn’t really find clear info about the verification stuff. It felt a bit confusing and I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to do next. Would be better if they explained it more simple

"Good for the price, just allow some wiggle room"
I’ve used BlaBlaCar a few times around the UK and, most of my rides have been good. The drivers were friendly, the prices were totally fair, and it’s been a really handy way to get around. The only annoying thing is that cancellations or time changes can happen quite late. One of my trips got moved by almost an hour the night before, which kind of messed up my train connection. I’m still giving it 4 stars because I did get where I needed to go, and the refunds/updates were clear enough. I’d just say don’t rely on it too much if your schedule is super tight.
"Feels like small towns are being quietly ignored"
I’ve checked a few different times for trips on my route, and there’s almost never anything available. Bigger cities seem to have plenty going on, but smaller towns are basically invisible. Maybe it’s just demand, but it feels like the app is set up to funnel attention to the busy areas and leave the rest of us out of the picture

I did get the notifications eventually, but a few of them showed up after I actually needed them. It was kind of frustrating because I feel like I’m always the one left dealing with stuff after the fact, and these late alerts didn’t really help.

I tried it once and the ride itself was totally okay!!! No real complaints there. But the privacy side felt kind of messy!!! It asked for a bunch of permissions, I started getting emails, and I couldn’t really tell what data they were keeping or how to turn certain things off!!! I ended up digging through the settings way longer than I wanted to. Just makes me less excited to use it again!!!

"Usually fine, but changes get annoying fast"
I use BlaBlaCar every now and then, and most of the time the listings are accurate. The pickup points and times usually line up with what actually happens, so I can’t really complain too much there.
That said, I’ve had a few rides where the driver changed the time or pickup spot after I booked, and I don’t have much patience for that. It’s not the end of the world, but when I’ve planned my day around it, it gets irritating quickly.

Booking went smoothly overall, but the payment page froze on me once — not exactly what you want to see when money’s involved, right? I had to retry it, and after a few minutes I finally got the confirmation. So it worked in the end, just with a little unnecessary stress along the way.

I’ve used BlaBlaCar a few times now, it feels like it’s either really smooth or a bit of a mess. Some drivers are right on time and super easy to find, but then there’s always that one person who shows up late and barely communicates. One of my rides was about 25 minutes late, which was annoying. It still ended up being cheaper than taking the train, so I’d probably use it again, but I do wish the reliability was more consistent.

I had two passengers no-show last week without any proper warning, it was frustrating. It ends up wasting time that could’ve been used more productively. A little notice would’ve been appreciated...

"Confusing luggage rules"
Well... I booked a ride and only found out afterwards that my suitcase was apparently “too big.” The driver barely had any boot space, so I ended up having to squeeze my bag onto my lap the whole way. It really wasn’t clear during booking, and it made the trip way more stressful and annoying than it needed to be.

I felt like the prices were high compared to a lot of other options out there. I ended up trying some cheaper alternatives that other people seemed to like too, they worked better for me.

I really like the idea behind this app, sharing rides, cutting down on cars, and making travel a bit greener. That’s why I gave it a try. But the app itself felt clunky, and my driver ended up cancelling late, which threw off my plans. I also reached out to support and got what felt like a copy-paste reply that didn’t really address the issue, which was frustrating. It’s a good concept and maybe better for the environment, but based on my experience, it wasn’t reliable enough

The seat felt really cramped, and the inside of the car wasn’t even that clean. what a joke. I expected it to be at least somewhat comfortable and taken care of...
